Ella Mabel was born in Chetwynd a small villiage established by her father (and named after him) who went to Florida to establish citrus orchards.
While in Florida her father met and married Elizabeth (Kitty) Routledge.Ella Mabel was born soon thereafter.
The family travelled back to England due to her father's ill health
Her father died in 1902.
In 1903 living at 18 Alwyne Mansions,Alwyne road with her mother and brother.
Attended Wimbledon High School for Girls in 1903/4.
In 1911 census Ella Mabel C-S was living with her mother and brother in Leatherhead,Surrey.Also staying with them was William Alan Gillett,her future husband.
