General:
John Chetwynd, 2nd Viscount Chetwynd (c.1680 \endash 21 June 1767), diplomat and politician, was the second son of John Chetwynd and the brother of Walter Chetwynd, 1st Viscount Chetwynd. He succeeded to that Irish peerage in 1736 by virtue of a special remainder.

Earlier in life he was British envoy to Savoy from 1706 to 1713.[1] After returning to England he was Member of Parliament for St Mawes, 1715\endash 1722; for Stockbridge, 1722\endash 1734; and Stafford, 1738\endash 1747. He was also British envoy Extraordinary at Madrid from 1717,[2] until the outbreak of the War of the Quadruple Alliance.

John Chetwynd was married and had two sons and two daughters:

Hon. John Chetwynd, who died on 30 May 1741 aged 21 and unmarried
Hon. William Richard Chetwynd, Member of Parliament for Stafford, who died in 1765 before his father.
Hon. Catherine Chetwynd, who married John Talbot, the 2nd son of Charles Talbot, 1st Baron Talbot. By this marriage, the Ingestre estate passed into the Talbot family.
Hon. Catherine Chetwynd was the daughter of John Chetwynd, 2nd Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven and Esther Kent.2 She married Hon. John Talbot, son of Charles Talbot, 1st Baron Talbot of Hensol and Cecil Matthews, in August 1748.1 She died on 20 January 1785.3,2
Her married name became Talbot.

John Chetwynd, 2nd Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven was born between 1678 and 1684.1 He was the son of John Chetwynd and Lucy Roane.2 He married Esther Kent, daughter of Richard Kent and unknown FitzJames, before 25 July 1716.3 He died on 21 June 1767, without surviving male issue.4 His will was proven (by probate) on 12 July 1767.1
He held the office of Receiver-General of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1702 and 1718.1 He was Envoy to Savoy between 1706 and 1710.4 He held the office of Lord of Trade between 1714 and 1728.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for St. Mawes between 1715 and 1722.4 He held the office of Lord of the Admiralty between 1717 and 1727.4 He was Envoy to Spain from 1717 to 1718.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Stockbridge between 1722 and 1727.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Stockbridge between 1727 and 1734.4 He held the office of Recorder of Stafford in 1735.1 He held the office of High Steward of Stafford.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven, co. Kerry [I., 1717] on 21 February 1735/36.4 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron of Rathdowne, co. Dublin [I., 1717] on 21 February 1735/36.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Stafford between 1738 and 1747.4 His last will was dated 3 March 1765.
