A farmer in the UK.
Arrived in the USA on 14 September 1883 on the ship Grecian Monarch en route to Florida to farm.
Went to Florida,USA to help found the citrus industry.
Settled in the village of Chetwynd with his sister,Elizabeth,who married Granville Brian Chetwynd-Stapylton,his good friend.
The family lived on 10 acres on the northern side of Zephyr Lake which James purchased for USD 175 from his future brother in law,Granville Chetwynd Stapylton.
Moved to Belmont,Massachusetts,near Boston by 1895 by way of Asheville,North Carolina.
By 1920 James was working in a bank when he,his wife and three daughters moved to Needham,Massachusetts.

James married Rose Jane Childley [1722] [MRIN: 641]. (Rose Jane Childley [1722] died circa 1854.)
