 General Notes:
In 1901 was a scholar at Malvern College.
Went up to Brasenose College,Oxford from 1912 to 1914.
Joined the Royal Artillery in 1914.
Was ADC to General George Biddulf 1914 to 1918.
Went to France in Nov 1915.
Sent to Egypt in 1916 with the 54th Div., Royal Artillery.
Was Adj. to the Colonel,the Marquis of Exeter, until 1918.
Was in both battles to capture Gaza from the Turks and later in the advance on Aleppo,which destroyed the Turkish forces in Palestine.
Has memories of the Armistice with Turkey while a Staff Captain with the 53rd Bde. of the Royal Field Artillery.
Demobilised in 1919.Spent time in Alexandria convalescing.
After the war was in employment on Lord Exeter's estate at Burghley.
In 1920 lived at The Dairy Farm,Burghley Park,Stamford.
