William Chetwynd, 4th Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven and 4th Baron Rathbone, was born on 25 November 1721. He was the son of William Richard Chetwynd, 3rd Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven and Honora Baker.
He was baptised on 21 December 1721 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Covent Garden, London, England.
He matriculated at Hart Hall, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England on 2 December 1737.
He married Susannah Cope, daughter of Sir Jonathan Cope, 1st Bt. and Mary Jenkinson, on 28 October 1751.
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for (Whig) Stockbridge between 1747 and 1754.
He held the office of Equery to the King between 1758 and 1760.
He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven, co. Kerry [I., 1717] on 3 April 1770.
He succeeded as the 4th Baron of Rathdowne, co. Dublin [I., 1717] on 3 April 1770.
He died on 12 November 1791 at age 69 at Donnybrook Green.
He was buried at Christ Church, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
His will was proven (by probate) in April 1792.
William married Susannah Cope [139] [MRIN: 94], daughter of Sir Jonathan Cope 1st. Bt. [1356] and Mary Jenkinson [1357], on 28 Oct 1751 in Little Haywood, Heywood Park, Staffordshire. (Susannah Cope [139] died on 3 Mar 1790 in Lyneham House, Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire and was buried in Lyneham, England.)
