  General Notes:

In 1871 lived at The Castle,Bishop's Hill,Taunton,Devon as a scholar.
In 1881 at the time of the death of George Gillett,SWG was living at 5 Lincroft St,Moss Lane East,Manchester.Described as a gentleman.
In 1891 lived at The Springs,parish of St Mary Bowden,Chester, as a Patent Agent.
In 1901 lived at North Woodville,Bucklow,Chester as a Chartered Patent Agent.
Samuel became a partner in his father in law's Chartered Patent Firm,HB Barlow in Manchester.
Samuel's brother in law,Henry,was also a partner in the firm.
The partnership was dissolved,as announced in the London Gazette." The London Gazette.4 August,1911 5862.
Notice is hereby given, that the partnership heretofore subsisting between us, the undersigned, Henry Bernouilli Barlow, and Samuel Walkey Gillett, carrying on business as chartered Patent Agents and consulting Engineers , at No.4 , Mansfield -Chambers ,17, St Anne's -Square , in the city of Manchester, under the style or firm of " H.B. BARLOW AND GILLETT ' has been dissolved by mutual consent as and from the 31^st day of July,1911 . All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by the said Samuel Walkey Gillett, who will continue to carry on the said business alone, and on his own account, under the said style of "H.B. Barlow and Gillett."

From the above it appears that in August both HB Barlow and his son,Henry,withdrew from the firm which was carried on by Samuel W Gillett on his own.
Samuel Walkey Gillett was apparently a scratch golfer who was a member of the Bowden Golf Club,Cheshire which no longer exists.
JAC Walkey Gillett has in his possession a trophy awarded to Samuel in 1904 at the Bowden Golf Club.
The trophy mentions that "Golf is not agriculture".
The Bowden Golf Club was founded in 1890 and is described as the Bowden Golf Club,Dunham Massey.Altrincham.

Samuel married Edith Suzette Barlow [234] [MRIN: 145], daughter of Henry Bernoulli Barlow [1321] and Margaret Pemberton [1322], in 1883. (Edith Suzette Barlow [234] was born in 1857 in Higher, Broughton, Lancs. and died in 1940 in Eastbourne, Sussex..)
