Qualified as a doctor at the University of Cape Town.
A specialist in TB he worked for many years in the Stellenbosch district.Also spent some years in Rhodesia running a hospital for leprosy patients.
Retired to Kidbrook Retirement Villiage,Hermanus, near Cape Town.
Memorial service held at St Peter the Fisherman Anglican church in Hermanus at 3pm on 3 July 2015..

Allan.Dr John(JACK) Adrian Allan died peacefully in Hermanus on 3rd July 2015 at the age of 93.
He was at Bishops from 1935-1939 in Grey house.
He commenced his medical studies at UCT and after completing 2nd year enlisted in the S.A.A.F.
Ill health necessitated his transfer to the Medical Corps where he was trained as a Laboratory Technician.
On resuming his studies he qualified in 1947 and worked at King George V Hospital Durban, as he intended on specializing in Tuberculosis.
In 1951 he accepted a post as Hospital Director with the Southern Rhodesian Health Department and was stationed at Ngomahuru Leprosy Hospital south of Fort Victoria.
There were a 1000 patients and this later was combined with a new Tuberculosis Hospital built on the institution.
He returned to the Republic in 1964 and settled in Stellenbosch.
He was appointed as the Medical Tuberculosis Medical Officer of Stellenbosch and later became Medical Officer of Health.
He with his wife Nicolette retired to Hermanus in 1986 and spent many happy years in Voelklip.
Nicolette pre deceased him on 01/02/2004 and daughter Averil 02/11/2013.
He is survived by his 4 children,14 grandchildren(Eric&Tim School House 2008-2014) and 11 great grandchildren.
