On 17 August 1968 he was appointed by the Queen as Secretary of the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood .This office has been controlled by the Constable of Windsor Castle,having formerly been responsible to the Dean of Windsor. Deputy Constable and Lieutenant-Governor of Windsor Castle 1978-1989 Governor of the Militiary Knights of Windsor 1978- 1989. This is an office of the Royal Household of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom which dates from the mid-sixteenth century.. The Governor has charge of the Militiary Knights of Windsor. On 14 December 1979 he received further promotion in the Royal Victorian Order when appointed a Knight Commander In The London Gazette of 4 Jan 1980 appointed secretary in Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood. In the same London Gazette also appointed as an Extra Gentleman Usher to her Majesty. On 26 Feb 1985 represented The Queen at the funeral of Lieutenant-General Sir Brian Gwynne Horrocks at Westminster Abbey. Ashes interred at Windsor.
