Elizabeth(Kitty) Routledge [82]

  General Notes:

Elizabeth was born to James (Chemist) and Sarah Routledge on 20 August 1853, and baptised at St Leonard's, Shoreditch.
She was not born in Lambeth (which is south of the river) as it states in the 1911 Census, (or Leatherhead, as some 'ancestry' trees have it) - although the 1911 date of birth roughly agrees.
She must have been nearly five years older than her husband - but her age is given as 30 on the voyage from New York in 1891. Perhaps the crew were too polite to ask, and made a guess, having ascertained that her husband was 33!
I cannot find James and Sarah Routledge and their family in England after 1853 - however in a very interesting document I found online about the history of Chetwynd, Fruitland Park , there is a reference to a Mr Routledge taking over the running of the store. Is it possible that Elizabeth was his daughter?
She married Granville there in 1885.They married in her brother,James's house.A Methodist minister Isaac Vandewater officiated.

Elizabeth(Kitty) married Granville Brian Chetwynd-Stapylton [81] [MRIN: 58], son of Canon William Chetwynd-Stapylton [83] and Elizabeth Biscoe Tritton [84], on 15 Dec 1885 in Chetwynd/Fruitland Park, Florida, USA. (Granville Brian Chetwynd-Stapylton [81] was born 11 Dec 1858 at 5.30am in Malden, Surrey., christened on 9 Jan 1859 in Malden, Surrey, died on 29 Oct 1902 in the Old Rectory, Hallaton, Leicestershire and was buried on 1 Nov 1902 in Malden, Surrey.)
